Eggtempera is an old traditional painting technique using only earth pigments and eggyalk. The paintings are made directly on linen canvas. The colours are vibrant and the paint don’t ware off with time hence the threehundred year old paintings exhibited in Unnaryds Bonadsmuséum (the worlds only museúm of its kind). Unnaryd is the capital of the naive folk art of southern Sweden. Back in the days the bonads (bonader in Swedish) decorated the walls of the otherwise dark, wooden houses in and around this area.
Learn how to paint in this old, playful technique by attending a course. Eggtempera has the last decade had a renaissance and every summer people are traveling from a far to attend courses held in Unnaryds Hembygdspark given by Judith Etzold and Julia Kabell- both graphic designers and illustrators living in Unnaryd. .
